Generic Singulair (Montelukast) is used to treat asthma, allergic rhinitis, decreasing the symptoms and the number of acute asthma attacks, and to treat the symptoms of seasonal (short-term) or perennial (long-term) allergies. You will see the results of therapy after 3 to 14 days. Montelukast is also used to relieve allergy symptoms. In clinical studies, Singulair improved asthma control in many patients by significantly decreasing asthma attacks, preventing daytime and night-time asthma symptoms, and reducing reliance on other asthma medicines, such as quick-relieving bronchodilators.
